   This presumes that followers always DM to say “Hi I’m following you”. They don’t, believe me, they don’t. This is bad advice and could really offend some of your original followers (who didn’t DM but may have followed you). There are apps out there that cross-ref your following and your followers list. Use that to prune. Don’t do what this video says.

   Facebook DOES limit how many friends and fans you can have.
   The purpose of Twitter is NOT to get as many followers as possible.
   You CAN follow more than 2,000 people if you have more followers.

   This is one attempt by twitter to limit the spread of SPAM which it sounds like this guy wants to thwart.
