OK so Coach Leach suspends a player for lashing out on twitter and a WR from the Jets was benched for a twitter post about his lack of playing time…(take a quick look at the story below) What is your opinion on twitter and sports? Personally I think twitter is one of the most idiotic sites ever to be created but that is my opinion…I am sure a lot of you out there use it but to each their own…Should players be allowed or even left alone to do what they please and express themselves? I do think that team business should be left out of social networking sites though. Thanks for the opinions.

I totally agree w/ you..
I think the players should have enough sense to stay off those kinds of sties to begin with.. ..
so I agree he should of kept it private.. on his own site.. not out there on twitter or another site such as that..
I feel Leach is setting the example for those in the future who might get upset.. and think they might put it out there to get revenge..
Twitter has been terrible for athletes.
I personally think it’s better to keep thing private and not post it on the internet where everybody could see.
I would rather keep my team activities and what’s going on with the team and their lives to themselves.
twitter is the most stupid website ever in the history of internet. no one gives a sh(it) of what people are doing. as for that kid from tech it sucks to be him but thats just crossing the line you cant bench anyone or ban twitter for saying something like that. did you hear about that guy who went on vacation and someone broke into his home because he posted it on twitter he wasnt there.
I think that even players with the best intentions who use twitter can say things that will hurt the team or put private matters into the public light. I think 90 minutes before and after a game is a good amount of time, more so after so that an angry player can cool down a bit and not write something that can’t be taken back. A lot of players seem to be writing critical remarks about their team, coach or whatever that can cause media storms that can get out of hand. Its really no different than sitting in front of a camera and bashing people, more people probably follow twitter than post game news conferences.
Have never even gone to Twitter. Dont do Facebook and have only seen other people showing me their Myspace at work. All seems a easy way to waste time. Lot better things to do with your life.
But as for College Atheletes and some Pros they do not need to have a Soap Box and a Microphone with no Filter on it.
